Saab J29 - The first swept-wing fighter to be put into large scale production in Western Europe. The first prototype flew on September 1, 1948. Production aircraft were fitted with a de Havilland Ghost engine developing 5,000 pounds of thrust allowing the aircraft to achieve a maximum level speed of 659 mph. Armament included four 20mm cannon plus rockets.
