At the time of its introduction in 1934, the Taifun was far ahead of its contemporaries boasting retractable landing gear and all metal construction. The Luftwaffe acquired the a/c in substantial quantity for a communications role resulting in eventually 1000 plus a/c being built. After WW2 the French Noord Company continued to manufacture the design substituting Renault engines, producing an addition 285 a/c.
