Designed as a smaller cheaper version of the venerable Goose, the a/c was targeted at the US civil market. Modified for military use, the US Coast Guard used it as a coastal patrol a/c where one successfully engaged and sunk a U-boast off the Mississippi in Aug/1942. The a/c remained in production until Jan/1949.
