The F3F was the last biplane interceptor to operate from the deck of an American carrier. The production run of 162 a/c served with frontline Navy and Marine Corps units between 1936 and 1941. Many of the Navy's most influential fighter leaders of WW2 "cut their teeth" operationally in the F3F in the years leading up to 1941
