The DC-3 first entered civilian service in 1936. With modifications for military use, it was a key factor in the Allied success in WW2 fulfilling a critical transport role for men and material. Of the 10,926 a/c built more than 300 are still being operated today the civil fleet and more than 200 are still remain in military service.
